Age-toning/discoloration to gutters, especially at endpapers, with minor soiling here and there, otherwise interior is surprisingly bright and clean. Binding is intact but not super tight. Jacket is in overall good condition and presents well in mylar. Edges are bumped, chipped, and worn, with some soiling overall and a scratch across the cover. Spine is present but repaired subtly with scotch tape; 1/2" chunk missing from tail, 2" chunk missing from head with title lost, most of author's name intact. All four flap corners are clipped with price clipped as well. Flaps are age-toned. Overall a well-loved but still surprisingly intact copy of this beloved classic.

Color pictorial priced ($2.00) DUST WRAPPER with minor wear to the head and tail of spine and flap fold corners, and minor fraying to edges on back panel for what is a lovely example of the dust wrapper. Color pictorial endpapers with previous owner's bookplate on verso of FFE. [48] pp. The story, told in verse, is about Madeline, a little Parisian schoolgirl who manages to have fun in spite of a bout of appendicitis; wonderfully illustrated by Bemelmans with a simple pen and ink drawing on every page; the drawings are embellished with a limited palette of watercolors, most predominant of which being primary yellow. The condition of both the book and the original dust wrapper is NEAR FINE. A striking copy of this children's classic.
