Description: Ex-Library; discard stamp in red at bottom of title page; rear pocket. 107 pp., port. frontis; 4to; half-leather and marbled paper over boards; marbled endpapers; plates showing 38 examples of Anderson's engravings. Front board detached; frontis, tissue guard and title heavily foxed & tanned; the first full page plate engraving 'Mitchell' is very foxed; plate 13 stained; the rest of the plates appear for the most part clean; newspaper clippings attached to endpapers including Anderson's obituary; two plus columns on an Exhibition of American Wood Engravings at the Lenox Library, (Oct.,1902 according to an appended pen note at top of article); and a well annotated bookseller's catalog entry for the book, noted as 'Very Scarce'. Useful perhaps as a binding or reference copy.

Man of Anderson' earliest engravings are mentioned.Some of his pupils and contemporaries are discussed, and general observations on the business of book publishing are made. Appended to the memoir is Anderson's autobiography written in 1848." Ex-library with no cover marking. Signature of Dr. William Schroeder, Brooklyn NY dated 1904 and bookplate with his name presented to the Library of the Medical Society of the County of Kings.
