Field, Eugene. Lullaby-Land. John Lane the Bodley Head, London, 1898.

Price: US$65.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Bound in full dark red cloth with gilt titles and decorations. Some minor foxing to the page blocks mostly, and some offsetting to the endpapers from the jacket flaps. The title page states 1898 so this is an assumed first edition. With 219 pages including illustrations, a fairly nice tight clean copy otherwise. The rare jacket that is present has some slight loss to the spine head and other minor edgewear but is mostly complete. The price of 3/6 and the ads from the jacket flaps suggest that this jacket is from 1915 or perhaps later. It is not we believe from 1898, and has a 4 color design on the front panel. What is unknown is that we cannot trace an edition from Bodley Head / John Lane of a later date than 1898 so this jacket is a mystery. One of the titles advertised on the flaps was not published until 1915, so the jacket is likely around that time. Still a rare jacket nonetheless.
