Description: FAMOUS AUSTEN BOOK DUE TO THE MISSPELLING OF FREINDSHIP (SIC). Book is covered in durable gray cloth and has a navy blue stamped title and decoration on front; has gray topstain; spine has a PARTIAL paper label in poor condition which is an indication of a first printing as all other printings have stamped title; spine is tanned (SEE SCAN). Charming endpapers front and back are decorated with pictures by Cassandra Austen: 12 color portraits in circles representing all the characters mentioned throughout the book plus an extra circle with the initials J.A (SEE SCAN). All pages are effected by slight tanning. This is the first collection of Austen's juvenalia, and includes the title work, "Lesley Castle," "The History of England," a "Collection of Letters," and "Scraps." Lovely little book of the 14 year old Jane Austen's work.

Description: 1st US Edition, 1st Issue. 12.4 x 18 cm grey cloth with navy stamped title and decoration and titles to the upper board. Spine label with titles in purple to the spine indicating a 1st Issue. Colour pictorial endpapers depicting the kings and queens of England by Cassandra Austen, xvii,174pp with tissue guarded reproduction of a page from the manuscript. In original dust jacket. [Gilson F3] The book has been well protected by its dust jacket and has clean boards and a bright, undamaged titles label. Internally clean, without name, inscription or bookplate and just a small bookseller's label on the front free endpaper and a touch of spotting to the endpapers and edge of the text block. The dust jacket has a lightly toned spine and several cup rings front and back. There is a 3 x 2.5 cm triangular chip from the top edge of the upper panel. and smaller chips on the spine tips and top corners. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown).
