The blue pebbled finish is like new and so is the red staining on the top pages. The colorful original Burroughs dust jacket has extremely mild wear to the top of the spine. Description: Smaller octavo. Blue buckram covered boards and spine with red lettering on both the spine and the front board. Book has light bumping at the head and tail of the spine and at the tips of the outside corners with light accompanying rubbing also in each place. Cloth at the very tip of the front corner of the head of the spine is frayed and the inner board peeks out. Very light cream colored endpapers. Binding has a very slight forward lean but is tight. Light cream colored pages are all clean and crisp. 317 pages. Red publisher's topstain. Illustrated by John Coleman Burroughs. Dust Jacket - looks authentic, but previous owner has it listed as a facsimile. 1/3" chip in the two rear corners of the spine and aa 1/4" chip in each of the two front corners of the spine. 1/4" chip in the tip of each of the four outside corners. Couple smal chips in the upper edges of the front and rear covers. Light rubbing all around the otuside edges of the covers and long the outside edges of the spine. Jacket has a very small hole in the front edge of the spine about half way between the upper and lower edges - about the size of a felt tipped pen dot Please inquire for images of parts of the book not shown among those we provide. Tenth book in Burroughs's Barsoom/Mars series of books. Lower edge of the front cover lists Llana as "a John Carter of Mars Romance."

The volume is mildly edge rubbed, lightly, lightly splashed on the rose colored top edges, with shallow bleeding of the rose to the top edges of the frontispiece and title pages. The first three leaves have some gentle rippling. The The unpriced dust jacket, protercted in a sleeve, is chipped on the spine ends (to a depth of 3/16" ), corners (less so), and has a 1" x 3/16" abrasion/chip running from the rear panel to the left side of the spine.

Description: Fine first edition of this great book in the Mars series by Burroughs. This is the 10th John Carter novel and the last book to be published in the author's lifetime. This copy is clean and unmarked throughout and may well be unread. The blue boards and orange embossed boards are in fine, unmarked condition. Top staining to the page edges is bright and fresh and shows no wear or fading. The jacket is bright and fresh showing a very small light 1/4 inch crease to the bottom of the front panel and some very light scuffing to the L and A in the title, this is barely noticeable. The rear panel shows a 1/4 inch closed tear to the top of the panel and a 1/8th closed tear to the bottom of the panel. The jacket is housed in a Brodart cover for protection. Colors are bright and fresh. A lovely collectible copy.
