Price: US$150.00 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: This is the 1860 Edition, NOT a modern reprint. Howes H-735. Most serious fault is the sewing has failed at pages 168-169 so the text block has almost split in half. That said, very little wear to the pebble-grained blind embossed cloth binding. No distortion from reading or improper shelving. Pages are tight (split already noted) and clean with no marks. Scattered foxing. Previous owner's nineteenth- century bookplate inside the front cover. No odor. No water damage. No soiling. No sun fading.

Price: US$262.71 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: This specific hardback book is in good condition with a brown design embossed hard board cover that has some moderate wear to the edges and corners (through to the board) with slight bumping and some scuffing to the cover boards and spine. It has a tight, intact sewn-in binding with no interior cracks. The pages are slightly yellowed with age and contain some underlining throughout. The acids from the pages have caused only minmal stains mainly around the illustrations. There are only a few pages which are not completely intact. This is a rare and remarkable book and is in good condition. We package all books in custom cardboard book boxes and ship daily with tracking numbers. ; This is an original edition of this very rare book and was issued prior to his presidency during the year he was nominated. The lithographed rendition of Lincoln at the front of the book depicts a much younger man than usually depicted and without beard. Hamlin served as Lincoln's Vice President. Although Lincoln was the 17th President Hamlin was the 15th Vice President of the United States and was the first Republican Vice President. He also served as Governor of Maine and is now buried in Bangor. An illustration of Hamlin is also contained within the book. The book also depicts the Republican Wigwam in Chicago. An inscription on the first blank end page of the book reads as follows: "To Mifs Laura A. Platt from Buckwheat Cakes, Aug 25/60(1860)" ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 320 pages
