Description: Stated First Edition. Clean text bound in black cloth with ship design, title and author on the front cover and spine. Decorative paste-downs and endpapers. Rough-cut fore and bottom edges. The spine has loosened ,but the sewn text block is sound. Light soiling to covers with the faint outline of a glass left on the back cover. Otherwise the book is clean with smooth unmarked pages. 376 pp. Set during the War of 1812, this is the second historical novel by Roberts who was a native of Kennebunkport, Maine.

This is the classic series from Pulitzer Prize-winning historical novelist Kenneth Roberts, all featuring characters from the town of Arundel, Maine. Arundel follows Steven Nason as he joins Benedict Arnold in his march to Quebec during the American Revolution. Rabble in Arms continues with the exploits of Benedict Arnold, and includes many of the characters from the first book. The Lively Lady is a novel about the War of 1812 and tells the story of U.S. sea captain Richard Nason as he is captured by the British and sent to Dartmoor Prison. Captain Caution is another seafaring tale of the War of 1812. Very Good. Corners bumped. Rubbing to spine head and tail. Soiling to back cover. Minor sunning to page edges.

In a very good+, price clipped second state dust jacket with a 1/4 inch chip from the lower edge of the spine area and with rubbing to the folds. Signed and inscribed by the author in pencil on the title page and dated at Kennebunk Beach in the year of publication. This copy is covered by the second state dust jacket which reads "A Chronicle of Arundel".just below the title on the front panel. Only 5,560 of the first printing were sold. A scarce title in this condition in a very collectible and very uncommon dust jacket.
