Description: Bound in tan publisher's cloth, each cover is blind debossed with a silhouette and ornamental bordering. Each hubbed spine bears a matching paper label lettered in black with red accents. Top edges gilt. Deckled foredge and foot. Dark chocolate brown endpapers. Red and black title page. Red printed text occasionally throughout. Illustrated throughout with plates in black and white. Frontispiece of Volume 1 is a portrait of Elbert Hubbard, protected by a tissue leaf. Other various frontispiece portraits throughout the rest of the set. Flytitle reads "This copy of The Memorial Edition in Fourteen Volumes of Elbert Hubbard's Little Journeys To the Homes of the Great has been specifically prepared by the Roycrofters in their Shops which are in East Aurora, Erie County, new York for Lester S. Moody", of whom there is also an ex-libris bookplate affixed to the front flyleaf. Each volume contains a dark brown silk ribbon bookmark. Includes a short publisher's preface and an autobiographical essay; index (volume 14) by John T. Hoyle; includes bibliographical references. Date is from colophon of final volume; copyright date of 1916 on verso of most title pages. 13 volumes complete (12 in jacket); bound uniformly in tan cloth, t.e.g., remaining edges untrimmed. Description: This fourteen volume set - - all measuring 6.25 x 8.5 inches - - is the 1922 edition of this set as designed by the Roycrofters and Published by William H. Wise with the 1922 date in Roman numerals on the final colophon page of each volume. This set is designated on the title page as *The Anniversary Edition* - - which features cloth over boards bindings. This set features the dark maroon cloth covers with stamped design on front panel - - with oval shaped portrait of Elbert Hubbard and paper labels on the spine - - with the title of each volume. This set is in beautifully fine condition with each volume showing virtually no time- or handling wear - - with each volume showing gilt-top edges, deckled fore-edges, tissue-guards for the frontispiece, and the timeless graceful design and printing that were hallmarks of the Roycrofters craftsmen. This set includes all fourteen volumes and we will not list the volume titles but in this series author Elbert Hubbard would offer his summary of the artistic and philosophic story of western culture.
