The gorgeous bindings are signed by Zaehnsdorf on the verso of the front free endpapers and were made for Charles Scribner's Sons. With b&w photographs, drawings, and foldout letters facsimiles. Number in red pencil on the flyleaves, a few light scuffs to leather on the front panel of volume 1 and along the edges of both volumes. Text blocks are very clean. A near fine set. ; Octavo.

One can see his acknowledgement to Dowden's scholarship on p. vi of the Preface and his thanks in this letter. A great association copy.
