The gorgeous bindings are signed by Zaehnsdorf on the verso of the front free endpapers and were made for Charles Scribner's Sons. With b&w photographs, drawings, and foldout letters facsimiles. Number in red pencil on the flyleaves, a few light scuffs to leather on the front panel of volume 1 and along the edges of both volumes. Text blocks are very clean. A near fine set. ; Octavo.

Telling him he is sending this copy of his book which was to be published the next day, the 7th. One can see his acknowledgement to Dowden's scholarship on p. vi of the Preface and his thanks in this letter. A great association copy.
