Original gray cloth boards are slightly sunfaded and show some signs of rubbing, especially at the top and bottom edges and corners. Otherwise, overall, in very good condition. Illustrated with signed steel engravings of Washington and Lear and Washington's coat-of-arms by Hollyer, an engraving of Mt. Vernon, and a facsimile of a survey by Washington.

With Introduction and Notes." One of 275 numbered copies signed by William K. Bixby, enhanced with steel engravings of Washington and Lear and Washington's coat-of-arms signed by the engraver Samuel Hollyer, noted for his portraits of Walt Whitman. This volume additionally inscribed by the legendary collector and philanthropist Bixby to St. Louis lawyer Thomas H. West.
