Bixby, of St. Louis, Mo. With Introduction and Notes" This is "number 105 of three hundred copies printed for private distribution only" Paste-on label on gray front board. Blue cloth spine. Original gray cloth boards are slightly sunfaded and show some signs of rubbing, especially at the top and bottom edges and corners. Otherwise, overall, in very good condition. Illustrated with signed steel engravings of Washington and Lear and Washington's coat-of-arms by Hollyer, an engraving of Mt. Vernon, and a facsimile of a survey by Washington.

First edition, with an "Appendix: Containing miscellaneous Washington letters and documents reprinted from the originals in the collection of Mr. William K. Bixby, of St. Louis, Mo. With Introduction and Notes." One of 275 numbered copies signed by William K. Bixby, enhanced with steel engravings of Washington and Lear and Washington's coat-of-arms signed by the engraver Samuel Hollyer, noted for his portraits of Walt Whitman. This volume additionally inscribed by the legendary collector and philanthropist Bixby to St. Louis lawyer Thomas H. West.
