Description: Green cloth, black lettering on front cover and spine, 107th Infantry insignia on front cover, xxviii, 457 pp. Frontis photo of the author of these letters, with tissue guard, profusely illustrated with photographs and maps. Gow was a Lieutenant of a Machine Gun Company in the 7th Regiment of the New York National Guard, which was called into Federal service in 1916 and sent to the Mexican border. Upon the US entry in World War I, the 7th Regiment was designated the 107th Infantry and fought in the Ypres salient and at Mt.Kemmel. Gow was killed in action October 17, 1918 and was buried at St. Souplet British Cemetery in northern France. Front free endpaper lacking, 4 small newspaper clipping dealing with World War I pasted to rear free endpaper, no marks in book, binding tight. Covers clean with very light edge wear. Book condition VG. Binding: HB
