Original blue clamshell box with gold lettering on the spine, in excellent condition. The book is bound in blue (goatskin) leather with gold and red decoration. Red silk bookmark. Title page dated 2008. This is the Norman Denny translation, with illustrations by several hands. 1101 pages. Clean and tight and unread, in excellent condition. A limited edition of 1750 copies of which this is hand-numbered 1263. Also includes the booklet 'The Divine Stenographer; Truth and Narration in Les Miserables' by Mario Varga Llosa, which was included in the box with this edition. We also have the original Folio Society receipt from May of 2011, when the price was $325 new. The recipient's name has been torn off. Please email with questions or to request photos. The text used is the 1976 translation (and introduction) by Norman Denny, first printed in the Folio Society edition of the same year and later taken on by Penguin Classics. The booklet essay, 'The Divine Stenographer: Truth and Narration in Les Misérables', is drawn from Maria Vargas Llosa's 2007 book on the novel.
