In publisher's wrappers, with the symbol of the series on rear cover. (24), (2 [frontispiece]) leaves. The legend of Ernst's 1926 collage novel "La femme 100 têtes" illustrated with a double frontispiece also by him. Each page of 'La femme 100 têtes' (1926), Ernst's first collage novel, contains a printed image with a brief subtitle, the legend. In this book Ernst published merely the legends and created a double frontispiece as illustration for the book. Issued by Jean Hugues as Volume II of the series 'Le Cri de la Fée', the other two volumes were illustrated by Alberto Giacometti (Volume I: 'La Folie Tristan') and Hans Bellmer (Volume III: 'Mon arrestation du 26 août. Lettre inédite suivie des Etrennes philosophique' by Marquis de Sade), and the series was edited by Gilbert Lely. All of the volumes were published in 1959. . Uncut. Protected with tracing paper. Sheet size: c.150 x 104 mm; engraving sheet size: 152 x 204 mm. Original publisher's printed wrappers with titles in black to front cover and spine and vignette to rear cover. The édition de tête with Giacometti's signed etching in the original wrappers. From the edition limited to 277 numbered copies on vélin de pur chiffon, with this one of the first 50 édition de tête copies with Giacometti's signed engraved frontispiece and the colophon signed by Gilbert Lely; a further 12 hors commerce 'de présent' copies were issued as well as the 215 copies without Lely's signature or Giacometti's frontispiece.
