Description: Quarter linen gilt over striking green & yellow striped paper boards. Sm.8vo, c.pp148 uncut, neat little endpaper booklabel, lower corners just scuffed, else very good. Novel of the jazz age by a Girton College graduate. 'The story of the strange friendship & stranger rivalry of an English gentleman and a Negro singer. The whole action takes place at three parties - one smart, one bohemian, and one intimate - and within the space of twenty-four hours. A hectic story, in fact, with a saxophone accompaniment'. Meynell designed 'a most original form of typographical display for the title-page and headings', to match the jazz spirit of the text. A 'brave but not entirely successful attempt at a completely new treatment for title-pages' [Dreyfus]. **** To confirm availability before ordering, please click the link Ask Bookseller A Question.
