Description: 8vo. 1st Edition 2nd issue of the First French Edition of Poor Richard's Almanack, first issued by Franklin in Philadelphia in 1733 and issued in 3 issues. This is the translation into French by Dupont de Memours. Franklin was so popular in France upon his arrival and stay, that this book was issued and sold out in a week, then this same identical book or issue was issued so the editors had to state that this is a second issue. Both issues are rare. contains also the Constitution of Pennsylvania, and Franklin's experiences in England, all items of interest to the French who adored him. Uncle Ben once averred that he was so popular in France, that his face was as familiar to all as the man in the moon. Bound in a fine 1/4 green morocco Parisian binding with marbled boards, comes with 3 mounted circa 1850 Napoleon the Third postage stamps and pencil notes about the translator whose name is not given credit on the title page. A rare book, comes with a letter sent to and now owned by the firm of Rothschild brothers. dated 1861 in manuscript with post mark bold letter about financial matters of great import .
