Blue cloth cover with pastedown front illustration -- generally a little scuffed, but illustration is clear and boards aren't showing. Spine cover is creased and sun-darkened, so that title is barely legible.

Has Princess Dorthy on second to last page. 12 colour plates. Fore edge of the boards have some damp stain which also affects to edge of some of the pages and the coloured plates. I am not very familiar with these books, it is an early edition (possibly 1st?), so please contact to ask any questions to identify the edition. Professional seller. Printed end pages are faded around edges, especially front and back unattached pages. Cover is lightly worn, with some light spotting on back and faded edges of paste-on. Spine is faded and worn. Front cover is ripped at inside seam but binding linen is in tact and holding cover together. The 4-page gathering before title page (Princess Dorothy illustration and Kabumpo full color plate) are ripped out (not attached, but still present). Overall book is in good condition, pages are clean and unmarked, binding is otherwise sound. 12 full color plates, glossy on picture side only. Illustration captioned "Princess Dorothy" is in front of book and Kabumpo illustration is at back. Standard ampersand on spine. Elephant on mock title. An octavo of 9 by 6 1/2 inches with a 1/4 inch "v" shaped chip from the fore edge of the printed paper label on the front board; predation by silverfish of the starch from the front edge of the spine and the fore edge of the front board; a 1/2 inch closed tear to the cloth on the rear board; and the rear hinge has been reinforced. The "This Book belongs to" page has been filled in with pencil by a young prior owner.
