Description: xi, 183 pages ; 22 cm. Contents selected from submissions to a one-time poetry contest on the subject of Japan, instituted in 1957 by Charles E. Tuttle Company "in the interests of Japanese-American goodwill", juried by Burton E. Martin, Masami Nishikawa, and Edward Seidensticker. Bound in dark grey crepe paper over boards, with silver title label; issued in slipcase with similar silver title label. This copy with slight fading to the slip case, but otherwise in perfect condition. There is a faded red promotional slip surrounding the book. The book contains an early poem by poet Gary Snyder, "A Stone Garden".
