Parchment backed decorated paper boards. A five-act play preceded by a three page Author's Note. Pasted over the front endpapers is a Typed Letter Signed, dated 29th November 1928, on headed notepaper, from the literary agents James B. Pinker & Sons to the author: ''I have just heard from New York that they have succeeded in getting five dollars a performance out of the people who did 'John Kemp's Wager'. The performances were only for children and the promoters declared they lost money on them so Mr. Eric Pinker thought it best to agree to this amount.''. The author has written on the letter: ''This is a lie for a start [i.e. that the performances were only for children]. I suppose 1/2 a loaf is better than no bread but they certainly did not lose from the performance to judge from accounts I received of the reception. Eric Pinker should have consulted me before accepting I think. R.G.''Covers a little marked and rubbed at the edges. Bottom corners of covers slightly bumped. Very good.
