Description: A very fine copy of the Curry B binding with the correct title "John Carter of Mars", the A binding reads "John Carter and the giant of Mars". This copy being the blue cloth variant of the B binding. Canaveral allowed printers to use any color cloth they had remnants off to save money so both issues are available in a variety of colors with no priority. Richard Lupoff the editor at Canaveral estimates that there are probably around 1500 copies of the incorrect first state and again around 1500 of the corrected 2nd state. Book and jacket in very fine condition. Jacket is clipped and now with a brodart cover. This edition collects "John Carter and the Giant of Mars" (Amazing, Jan 1941) and "Skeleton Men of Jupiter" (Amazing, Febr 1943) together in a single volume. Introduction by Richard A. Lupoff and illustrated by Reed Crandall. (Curry p89, Zeuschner 199). A superior example of this edition ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall

It collects two stories - John Carter and the Giant of Mars (actually written by Burroughs' son, John Coleman Burroughs), and Skeleton Men of Jupiter - originally published in the pulp Amazing Stories in the early 1940s. The DJ illustrations, frontispiece, and 7 interior illustrations are by Reed Crandall. Light edge wear to the DJ. The gold lettering on the book spine is somewhat faded. A very good copy.

(2) Introduction galley, no corrections. (3) Fine smooth Introduction galley copy folded in a manila envelope. All housed in a handsome cloth-bound traycase.
