Description: 4to, loose sheets in cardboard covers, tied with white and yellow ribbons. A unique prepublication copy, prepared for the author and identified "This is John Hawkes' copy" at the colophon. The Grenfell printer Leslie Miller produced this copy from the first set of printed sheets as a kind of mock-up to show Hawkes how the book would appear. As with all the sheets, the colophon has been signed by Hawkes and artist T.L. Solien who executed the cover art. In addition, Hawkes has signed and dated a preliminary leaf upon receipt of the book. Laid in is Leslie Miller's typed letter to Hawkes that accompanied this advance copy.

Description: 4to, morocco-backed illustrated boards. A unique copy, made for John Hawkes and identified at the colophon: "This is John Hawkes' copy." As with the other copies in this fine edition, the cover and frontispiece were from original artwork by T.L. Solien and the colophon has been signed by Hawkes and Solien. For this special boxed copy, which has no frontispiece, tan leather was used for the binding, rather than the black that was on the regular copies, and an additional pair of signed Solien prints has been included loosely inserted into an archival paper folder. One of the prints is the chair image that was used for the frontispiece, the other is an image of a flower vase that was not included in the regular issue of the book. Fine in original cloth clamshell box with printed spine label.
