Description: Ex-lending lib with residue from label to front board. Boards very faded and rubbed with gilt titling barely discernible. 354pp. illus. + many b/w plates. Only two of the five maps present. Book has been exposed to damp storage and has some mildewed leaves. Many of the plates are loose. The binding is weak. Edges rough-cut and rippled. Cracks at both joints. Piece torn away from title page. The book has numerous defects but the text appears to be complete. Strictly a reading copy only.

Description: Describes hunting, among other animals, Marco Polo sheep, this is a notable trek through Gilgit to the Kilgit pass, over the Pamirs to Kashgar. It has a valuable bibliography. Pages xx, 354. Calf dark green 3/4 binding, with gilt lines and decorations on spine, and a fresh gilt red calf title label. The boards are marbled. Owner Hester Walcot in 1902 notes "From the author who I met in 1902". Clean and tight inside, neatly rebacked spine. Nice copy. The folding map has repairs on the verso, but in very nice condition. The map has Chitral in the SW corner, and Kashgar and Yarkand in the northeast. Overall, a very nice leatherbound copy.

Description: A record of sport in the Pamirs. 354 pp, profuse ill, large folding map in rear. Cobbold was the first sport hunter to actively explore the Pamirs and took the first photo of a live ovis poli sheep. This is an important work for the sheep hunter. Scarce in first edition. The spine is very lightly faded and shows only minor wear. Solid vg+ to near fine copy in orig gilt pictorial cloth with Marco Polo sheep head on cover. The front and back covers and very lightly faded spine are near fine and the gilt sheep head on front cover is sharp and crisp. Corners are square. Now hard to obtain in first edition. Great reading.
