First published in 1930.In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Early copies in dust wrappers are particularly scarce.The Documents in the Case is the only one of Sayers' twelve major crime novels not to feature her protagonist Lord Peter Wimsey, however it does feature the secondary character, forensic analyst Sir James Lubbock. The epistolary novel tells the story of a young man trying to get justice for his father. Written with Robert Eustace, a penname for Dr Eustace Barton, an author known for his medical-crime novels. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally very smart with just slight shelf wear to the extremities and slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Ink inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper is sound with chipping and the occasional closed tear to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and handling marks to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning due to paper used and the odd spot, heavier to the fore edge. Very Good Indeed

A very good copy, the binding a little rubbed and bumped to the extremities. The contents are clean throughout, with a previous owner's name to the front free endpaper and some spotting of the text block edge, visible when the book is closed. Complete with the very good rubbed, nicked and darkened dustwrapper which has small chips at the spine tips. Correctly priced 7/6net to the spine. Rare in dustwrapper.
