Description: Further pictures are available on request. The book has a glassine cover that is fairly battered including foxing and a few tears along the edges ranging from 2 cm to 6 cm approx. The cover has several markings down the front and light foxing, this occurs most severely along the edges. The inside covers and edges of the book are somewhat foxed. The top corner of the first page is smudged. The edges of the book are a bit grubby. The corners of several pages are creased. 91 pages with colour illustrations. Description: Kingsville, King Ranch, Inc., 1974. Large quarto (363 × 298 mm), [iv], 97 pages with numerous maps and illustrations (many in colour) from drawings and paintings by Tom Lea. Colour-decorated cloth a little marked and dusty along the top edges of the covers; edges, endpapers and adjacent leaves a little tanned; an excellent copy with the original plain acetate dustwrapper (scuffed and very slightly chipped). A lavish pictorial history of King Ranch's vast Australian pastoral holdings, with text and illustrations by Tom Lea. The Texan cattle conglomerate's Australian ventures were instigated by Robert J. Kleberg Jr in around 1952, and were key to introducing the Santa Gertrudis breed to Australia. The latter half of the book comprises short descriptions and illustrations of properties at Milton Park, Deltroit, Woodlands, Elgin Downs, New Twin Hills, Avon, Disney, Barkly Downs, Lake Nash, Georgina, Brunette Downs, Mount House, and Tully River. Provenance: Patricia Bridges OAM ASM (1921-2017), grande dame of Australian golf, with her signature and small address label on the front free endpaper.
