Provenance of signature clarified by a letter laid in from J. N. Murphy of Bookers Books, dated 14th December, 1971, describing a "very splendid" lunch at which Naipaul "[ran] rings round everybody", and presumably signed this copy. Jacket unclipped, though slightly worn, with very few minor nicks, and one inch-long tear. Spine is a little worn. Boards, pastedowns and endpapers are slighty marked; page block is faintly foxed. Minor general marks recurring through pages, similar to foxing, never obscuring text. All content is clear. TS
