Clean pages with faint tanning and visible foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb-marking throughout. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Mild sunning to spine, which has mild crushing and wear to ends. Mild water stains to front board. Sticker to rear board. Books has a backward lean. Boards are mildly warped.

Description: This 5.5 x 7.5 inch, 254 page hardcover book is the Walter J. Black edition of this title as published for the Classics Club with a copyright of 1942 shown. This copy is in near fine condition with the brick-red cloth covers with gilt ?CC? design on the front panel and black-and-gilt design and lettering on the spine. The one real condition issue for this copy is the fading of the gilt lettering on the spine but it still remains legible. The cloth covers show virtually no wear and the interior text shows also virtually no wear or damage but with some age toning showing. This copy features the lengthy eighty-plus page introduction by Hendrik Willem van Loon - - as well as numerous black-and-white full-page illustrations by van Loon, who was a very well known and accomplished illustrator of his day. A nice copy of this classic piece of world literature. 254 pages.
