Contains the text of speeches given by Edward Abbey and John Nichols at the Albuquerque, New Mexico Sierra Club in support of protecting the mountain lions. The booklet, purportedly issued in an edition of about 600 copies was done as a fund raiser for the Albuquerque chapter of the Sierra Club. The essays are: "In Praise of Mountain Lions" by Edward Abbey, "Some Words in Behalf of a Predator" by John Nichols, and "The Mountain Lion in New Mexico" by Carol Cochran.

Description: SIGNED by Edward Abbey and John Nichols in black ink on the front cover. On February 17, 1984 the Sierra Club of Albuquerque, New Mexico held a benefit event at the KiMo Theater. Edward Abbey and John Nichols both spoke at the event free of charge. Less than a week after the event, the New Mexico Game Commission passed new regulations to help save mountain lions. This booklet contains the full talks given by Abbey and Nichols at that event. Abbey's speech more or less starts with "Eat Less Beef." "If we have to choose between cows and lions, I'll do without the cows." It also includes a Preface by the Sierra Club, an essay on the history of the mountain lion in New Mexico by Carol Cochran, and illustrations by Beth Watkins-Arterburn.
