Description: This is the stunning Prion facsimile reprint, printed at the famous Curwen Press in 1978. Half maroon leather and cloth boards. Copyright page states this edition was limited to 530 copies, of which 500 were for sale. This copy is listed as being "out of series" i.e.the remaining thirty were disposed of privately and not sold. The original book was Edward Lear's first published work, dated 1832 and published by Lear himself. The binding has some infinitesimal spotting to the front and a very short scratch and one or two other inconsequential marks to the back.The contents of 42 prints are immaculate.

Many Australian parrots are figured and almost all the birds were drawn from life at the Zoological Gardens of London. Lear was just nineteen when his book was published.
