Description: Early printing of the first edition (circa late 1950s) with eight lines on copyright page (including reference to Redbook Magazine) and original price of 2.95 printed on dust jacket. Boards show minor soiling to front cover, moderate edge wear to extremities and an inconspicuous 2" split to cloth near head of spine. Binding is unaffected and remains tight. Very minimal soiling present throughout text (likely finger smudging). Illustrations and endpapers are vivid and bright. The dust jacket shows significant areas of loss (see photos), small tears, chips, creases, and light soiling. Foxing to underside of jacket and small stain to front flap. DJ now in a protective mylar cover.

Description: Tips of corners show modest wear, bottom of spine has some light scuffing at the tip, quarter inch surface scuff at top of spine. otherwise quite a nice copy, very clean and sharp, no rubbing, bright, clean, solid binding, sharp pages. Dust jacket has a half inch chip at top of spine with tape in that area to secure it, two ragged closed tears at bottom of spine that is also secured with tape, chipping to bottom corners that also have tape, a few small tears at edges, some light rubbing, some light wear at edges of spine. jacket is presentable overall, clean and bright and now protected in a clear cover.
