Corners a little bumped and some relatively minor marking/scuffing here and there. A little light spotting to end papers. Dust jacket condition: fair. Unclipped. Some general shelf wear around the edges, some loss mainly to corners. Wilder's remarkable study of Julius Caesar and Rome during the last year of Caesar's life. Written largely in letter form: Cicero, Cleopatra, Catullus and Clodia Pulcher. The portrait of Caerar that emerges is a triumph of the intellect as well as the imagination, all underpinned by Wilder's great scholarship.
