Collated, all photographs present and in the correct page position according to the list of illustrations. Very good condition. This binding is unique to the American edition; a London edition appeared in 1865. Binding scuffed at corners and edges of spine, mountings of photographs generally foxed. A pioneer work of landscape photography. Photographs taken outdoors with one exception, the tomb of Maximilian in Innsbruck. Pencil gift inscription on the recto of the frontispiece, dated in the year of publication. Logo of the Gresham Steam Press of London on the last page. Priority Mail only on foreign orders.
