"The Schwerdt catalogue ranges from early works to those of the [20th century], mainly from European countries, but also from America and Asia. It is a scholarly work, its contents expertly collated, with information notices on many items" (Snelgrove British and Sporting Animal Prints, 1658-1874: A Catalogue of the Paul Mellon Collection, p. ix). "The greatest and finest catalogue in all sporting literature" (Litchfield 84). Schiff sale 291: "Monumental and indispensable catalogue of [Schwerdt's] collection."
