Condition: Good

Description: Edward Ashenback was the manager of the Syracuse Club of the New York State League. Has a really nice color embossed front cover cartoon by Claude Shafer, the Sporting Cartoonist of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Has formal, black and white photos of the author and the editor as well as August Herrmann, James O'Rourke, John McGraw, Connie Mack, Hughey Jennings, and William Clymer. The book is much more a history of the early minor leagues rather than a humorous book. Details how quickly leagues were formed and how soon they went out of business. Has 217 pages, a solid copy in good condition. The rear cover has water stains but does NOT affect the text. A very difficult early book on baseball to find. This an original printing, NOT a print on demand edition.I have hundreds of books on the minor leagues in stock. Discounts are available when you purchase multiple items on the same order.
