Description: First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 175pp. Blue cloth lettered in gold at the spine. The tips of several corners gently bumped, the top edge lightly spotted, and with a small area of discoloration to the cloth at the head of the backstrip where the dust wrapper is defective. Former owner name inked to the head of the front free endpaper, and a contemporary date inked to the head of the rear pastedown. A small area of staining to the head of half a dozen preliminary leaves. A very good copy in dust wrapper, quite toned at the spine panel, and somewhat marked, chafed, spotted and soiled, with a small area of loss from the head of the spine panel, not impacting the lettering, and a smaller area from the base. The author's second book, and the second of his splendid Gervase Fen detective stories.
