Some damp marking to bottom corners of front and back boards. Binding firm. Previous owner signature and date to front free endpaper. Rough-cut fore-edge with a few spots. Content clean and bright. The bottom 2 corners are faded and rubbed. The front hinge is a little weak, there is a number written on the verso of the half title page and there is some odd foxing. The date has been rubbed off from under the publisher on the title page.

Telling the history of the dynamic and rather difficult race, A History of Steeple-Chasing details any rules and background information a steeplechase enthusiast would need to know. The steeplechase got its name from the first courses being unmarked. Where today there are physical start and finish lines, the earlier courses started at a designated spot and ended parallel to a church steepl. Collectible item in excellent condition.
