Description: First Limited Editions; engraved coloured title page, printed contents page and nine engraved coloured plates (22cm x 26cm), each signed in plate, housed in a cloth bound solander box, then housed in slipcase with title illustration laid down on upper board of slipcase, slipcase worn on edges all engravings in fine condition. These nine plates of Conflict & harmony were engraved by Hellmuth Weissenborn in 1981 and 1982. The Whittington press printed them from the original engravings an hand-made paper and The Acorn Press published them in an edition limited to 25 sets contained in a clothbound solander box on 4 December 1983.

Description: xvi, 68. [1] pp., illustrated, folio (15 x 10.75 in.); full brown Nigerian goatskin, with a Weissenborn engraving on a yellow leather square inlaid onto the front cover, marbled endpapers, t.e.g. Clamshell case covered in brown Canapetta cloth with printed title label on the spine. Engravings printed from the originals in black, dark blue, red or brown on Zerkall Silurian mould-made paper. Included are examples of Weissenborn's work from the late 1930s to four engravings for an edition of Shakespeare's Sonnets (1982). These are followed by a catalogue raisonné of his published engravings. Painter and wood engraver Hellmuth Weissenborn (1898-1982) also founded The Acorn Press and died before publication of this work, which turned into a posthumous tribute to him. This special edition also includes a suite of 17 Weissenborn engravings on 10 leaves executed on white Japanese handmade paper and housed in a separate matching Canapetta cloth-covered portfolio. This is copy no. X of a total of only 20 copies bound and issued thus (there were 240 copies of the regular edition). Whittington Press Bibliography 68. A fine copy.
