Description: A nineteenth impression of the true first edition, with the number-string sequence 20 19 at the bottom of the printer's page. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. ***Near fine in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are clean and unmarked without any fading. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. No reading lean - spine tight. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions, marks or annotations. Pages clean and bright - just lightly tanned as usual. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. Head and tail of spine of dustwrapper just very slightly creased. No chips or tears. Please note that the colours to the spine of the dustwrapper are very faded, and this extends to the front and back panels along the spine area, and at the very top edges including the foldover flaps (please see scans). ***223 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***An early nineteenth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in its original dustwrapper, in very nice bright condition. Being such a popular children's book, copies in such nice collectable condition (albeit with sun fading to the dustwrapper) are far from easy to find now. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.

Boards clean and unmarked, with just a very small area of fading at the bottom of the spine where the dustwrapper has been worn. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions, marks or annotations. No weakness or straining to the page block despite the cheap binding quality of these books. Pages clean and bright - just lightly tanned as usual. No reading lean - spine tight. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. The dustwrapper is complete, but there is a patch of rubbing and creasing at the tail of the spine. No chips or tears. There is strong sun-fading to the colours on most of the spine, although the top 5cm is completely unfaded (so must have been hidden from sunlight). The fading also affects the front and back panels along the spine edges. ***223 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***An early twenty-fourth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in its original dustwrapper, in beautiful collectable condition, albeit with fading to the spine of the dustwrapper. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a 1998 printing date. Description: First edition, first printing. Published by Bloomsbury in London, 1998. This is a very near fine copy. The dust wrapper, illustrated by Cliff Wright, is bright and clean, with some very slight wear at the corners and typical crumpling to the top and tail edges. It has not been price clipped and shows the original £10.99 price. There is a small but neat previous owners inscription to the rear of the front flyleaf, in grey ink. The full title page has ghosted to the flyleaf, as typical with this volume. The authors signature is present on the dedication page, without inscription, and in blue ink. The pictorial boards are tight at the spine and with only slight bumping to the bottom of the spine. This copy is clean internally, aside from the two aforementioned inscriptions. This is a very near fine copy, cast down from the fine grading due to very minor wear. A prime example of a scarce signed title. It is the second book in the series of seven Harry Potter books. The book was published in 1998. A film was theatrically released in November 2002.

Description: Full number-line on the copyright page, original price of 10.99 (pounds) on the front flap. Inscribed by the author on the dedication page "To Roz J K Rowling." A Near Fine copy in like dust jacket. Previous owner's name on the front free end paper and the binding a bit cocked. Dust jacket with some rubbing at the extremities but without any real chips or tears. The second novel in J.K. Rowling's unbelievably popular Harry Potter series, the book follows Harry Potter and his friends as they investigate a series of attacks on students at Hogwarts, possibly emanating from the Chamber of Secrets. "The Chamber of Secrets" was, of course, an instant bestseller and won Rowling the British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year for the second year in a row. Strangely enough, Rowling requested the manuscript back for revisions after delivering it to the publishers, worried that it might not live up to the success of her first book. The book was also adapted into a film in 2002, directed by Chris Columbus, starring Daniel Radcliff and Emma Watson. "Hogwarts is a creation of genius." (Contemporary Review from The Times Literary Supplement). Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.

Description: First edition, first issue of the second novel in Rowling's Harry Potter series. Octavo, original illustrated boards. Association copy, inscribed by J.K. Rowling on the dedication page, "Susie and Emily (a female Fred & George) with best wishes J.K. Rowling." The recipients, redhead twins Susie and Emily, were family friends of Bryony Evens, whom they accompanied to the Cheltenham Literary Festival where Rowling inscribed the present volume. The inscription refers to Harry Potter character Ron Weasley's elder twin brothers and fellow redheads, Fred and George. Bryony Evens was one of the first people to read the beginning chapters of the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the first to recognize the work's inherent value, and perhaps the most instrumental figure in getting the book published. Working at the time at Christopher Little Literary Agency, Evens was the first point of contact in receiving and sorting unsolicited manuscripts. Evens read Rowling's submission of the first three chapters of the book and passed it along to Little, who approved that she obtain the full manuscript and promote it to suitable publishers. Given a small budget, Evens was only able to print three manuscripts to pitch to publishing houses and, after twelve months and twelve rejections, was finally given the green light by editor Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury in London. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with toning to the spine. Jacket design by Cliff Wright. An exceptional association.
