Khaki-gray stiff wrappers with titles in black and decoration in orange, Guy Anderson's work copiously illustrated in black-and-white, color illustration tipped onto inside of back wrapper flap. Corners and spine ends very lightly worn, very nice copy. Bookseller accession no.: L21548. Guy Irving Anderson, 1906-1998, was an American artist working in the Puget Sound area, mainly with oil paints. He was a prominent member of the modernist Northwest School.

Description: Original gray wrappers printed in black and orange; color plate inside rear cover fold-out. One sheet detached from staples, else a Very Good+ copy of this fragile booklet. // With a poem by Lawrence Durrell, an introduction by William Cumming, and photographs by Bob Peterson. The 16pp of text by Robbins constitutes the first monograph on thi s very fine Pacific Northwest artist, often mentioned in the same sentence with Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, and Kenneth Callahan. This work is also the first significant publication of Robbins', produc ed during his first stay in Seattle, in the mid-1960s. He had been working for a short while as the art critic for the Seattle Times. In this essay, critically about Anderson's art as it is, can be se en the beginnings of Robbins' unique style of observations and conclusions that would find full voice in his first novel,six years later.

Anderson was a Pacific Northwest painter who was considered one of the "big four" artists of the Northwest School, an American art movement established in Skagit County and the Seattle area. The same area, which no doubt, affected Tom Robbins and his writing. A beautiful copy, uncommon in such nice condition.
