Description: Limited edition, this being one of 398 "English-text" copies, from a total edition of 553 copies. Cloth, large folio, 46 cm, 26, [2], pp, 152 pages of collotype plates (some in red and black). From the preface: "In the selection of the plates which form the bulk of this volume, I have been very materially assisted by the admirably arranged British Museum Catalogue of Fifteenth Century Books. . I have also used the publications of the Type Facsimile Society and the Gesellschaft für Typenkunde; and of course the works of Dr Haebler, Dr Voulliéme and other incunabulists. In describing the types I have preferred the older and stricter calligraphical terms such as Text and Bastard to the modern and less precise Gothic and Semi-Gothic and in grouping, I have been guided in the main by palaeographers, my debt being considerable to the Specimina Codicum Latinorum Vaticanorum of Cardinal Ehrle and Father Libaert (Bonn 1912)." A lightly ex-library copy with a gilt callnumber on the spine, label (overstamped "Withdrawn") on the front pastedown endpaper, a small circular stamp on the title-page and a larger stamp on the verso of the title-page. The small circular stamp is present in the margins of one or two text page sand at the top right corner of each collotype plate. Head and tail of spine slightly bumped, otherwise a Very Good copy.
