Edges worn, corners frayed, spine ends bumped, worm holes in rear hinge both in and out, minor damage to the inner front hinge, too; 'Alice in Wonderland' themed bookplate of Edgar F. Leo inside front cover, along with a couple scraps from a removed plate. Pages show scattered foxing. Impeccable design & typography by Bruce Rogers, well-printed on thick textured presumably hand-formed paper, with elegant line drawings at the head of each chapter. Number 45 of 330, printed for Houghton Mifflin. Austere & lovely.
