Pullman (Philip). Galatea. Victor Gollancz, London, 1978.

Price: US$895.32 + shipping

Condition: Fine

Description: A very fine signed first edition of Philip Pullmans rare second novel - writing with great visual imagination around the quotation 'Everything is what it seems' when in reality it is not. The book is notable for being the last adult novel written by the author and for the jacket photo showing how Pullman looked with a full head of hair in his early thirties. The very fine book is bound in green cloth boards with gold titles on the spine and appears to be unread. The dust wrapper with the price on the inside flap has no cuts or tears. The book and cover are in very fine condition apart from a very small patch of damp stain on the inside back cover, on the top right hand side, hidden by the dust wrapper and evidence of a small label removed from the top of the inside front cover. Galatea was signed by Pullman in his trade mark blue directly on the title page at a UK book festival with the printed quotation 'Everything is what it seems' underlined in blue also. The 287 page book is published by Gollancz in London as part of their Fantasy Collection. Clear removable archival film protects the dust wrapper.
