Spines have five panels with raised bands and gold spine lettering. Gold spine decorations. Deckle fore edges. Top edges gilt. Printed marbled endpapers match covers. Each volume has a gravure frontispiece with tissue guard. Fold-out maps in 2 volumes; map plates in other volumes. NOT ex-library. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Leather spines and fore edges have mild sun fading. Spine ends, bands and edges have some minor chips and nicks. Some small rubbed areas on leather surfaces. A few volumes are rubbed at the corners enough to expose the tips of the boards.
