Description: First edition seventh impression Small inscription to Front end paper. The front end paper has a small grubby mark. Otherwise no faults. Dust wrapper/ The front cover left hand corner has a 2cm closed tear with a small crease attached. The bottom left hand corner has a 1 and 1/2 cm tear. The top and bottom right hand corners have small chips. The spine is unusually bright. The top of the spine has some loss, not affecting the title. There is minor loss to the bottom edge. The back cover top and bottom edges have tiny closed tears and rubs. There is a small tape mark to the top edge. The bottom edge has a 2 and 1/2 cm closed tear. All four corners have small chips. The front and rear flap top edges are curled. Not price cut. The rear of the jacket is reasonably clean.

Description: A very nice bright copy in a bright clean crisp dust wrapper, an early 1950 edition of the first book in the series that was first published in 1942. The wrapper is remarkably bright and crisp with a hint of edge wear mostly on the spine top and two short closed tears on the rear panel. None of the usual dustiness here usually apparent of the rear white panel.The inside flaps are complete and unclipped.A little light foxing to the pre lis thereafter bright throughout with no blemishes or inscriptions.

There is a small ink mark to the back cover top edge.The text block is slightly foxed which has spread to the top margins of some of the pages, otherwise the pages are clean and bright. The binding is tight. No inscription Dust wrapper/The front cover has a 1.5 cm closed tear to the top edge. The top/bottom right hand corner have minor loss. The top of the spine has three 1 cm tears with creases in between, there is also a crease attached running along the top edge.The spine is creased top to bottom. The back cover has a 2.5cm tear running down the spine hinge with an additional 0.5 cm closed tear to the top edge. There is a small chip to the top/ bottom flap corners. Not price cut.
