Dustiness to the top edge but overall a VG+ copy with just a hint of spine fading but with NO MOTTLING TO THE BOARDS (and scarce thus). Description: 1st 1945. Good condition in a dustwrapper in fair condition. Blue cloth, black titles. Blue pictorial endpapers. Colour frontis, b/w and two-colour illustrations. Spine and corners bumped and worn, tint split to cloth at top of spine. Covers are damp spotted. Spine a little faded. Some browning/foxing to cover edges and base of spine. Small grubby mark to rear cover. Faint erased writing to top edge of front endpaper and ink inscription to verso. Four pencil numbers to top edge of rear endpaper. Brown marks to text block affects many page margins but otherwise contents very good. A few fox spots to top edge of text block. Dustwrapper has loss, mainlt from bottom edge of front panel and spine and from top edge of rear panel and spine. Creasing to front panel. Spine and rear panel browned and grubby. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

Description: First UK Edition. Publisher's cornflower blue boards with black lettering to the front board and spine. A first edition, first printing published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1945. A VG copy (with no inscriptions) with fading to the head and tail of the spine and with a with a bump and small tear in the cloth to the top edge of the back panel. The boards are generally clean and attractive and there none of the usual spotting to the text block or the boards. The good dustwrapper is priced 6/- net to the spine (as called for) and has had historic restoration to the verso including the head and tail of the spine and in several places to the right-hand edge of the front cover adjacent to the front flap. Blue boards with black titles, corners bumped (lower corners more so), thumbnail sized impression top edge front board, faint white spots to rear board, relatively light tanning to spotted edges, richly coloured pictorial end papers, light owner's name top ffep, colour frontis, faint stamp top rear pastedown reading Medhurst Lib?, so perhaps ex-library but save for a partial stamp on the top of the rear flap, there are no other stamps or indications that we could see that this was a library book, unclipped dust jacket with original 6/- price in very nice condition with relatively mild edge wear, light rubbing to extremities, rubbing also to lower corner, 1cm mark on spine, pages are clean, two small spots and light toning/shelf dirt to rear cover, binding is tight. Description: A very good or better book with a contemporary inscription to the verso of the illustrated front end-paper. The inner text is clean with the odd sporadic mark, but overall a nice clean book in a very good or better price clipped dust wrapper. Light loss to the spine tips, with some light rubbing to the extremities. There are two small, faint tape marks to both the front and rear flaps, else a surprisingly clean wrapper with no fading to the spine, and with a very clean rear panel.

Small patch of fading to the foot of the spine (where the D/W had previously been folded and which has now been re-folded back in place). SIGNED by way of an official bookplate to the front end-paper. In a very good wrapper (priced 6/- net to the inside flap (as called for) with one minute chip to the head of the spine (not affecting any lettering). Unclipped. Exceptionally clean rear panel front panel with some fading (although how this happened is difficult to fathom). Some rubbing to the edges and corners. Neat internal repair to the foot of the spine.
