Description: The first edition of this novel by L Ron Hubbard. With original unclipped dustwrapper. Lafayette Ronald Hubbard was the founder of the Church of Scientology. He has been cited by the Smithsonian magazine as one of the most 100 significant Americans of all time. He wrote many popular science fiction and fantasy stories and developed a system called Dianetics, expounded in book form. Final Blackout is a dystopic science fiction novel. It is set in the future and concerns a man known as 'the lieutenant' as he restores order to England after a world war. The book was originally published in a serialised format in the magazine Astounding Science Fiction. This is the first edition in book form. It is an early classic of the Golden Age of science fiction. In original paper covered boards held in original dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the head of the spine. Dustwrapper is very smart with some evidence of repair to the head and tail of spine. Wrapper is sunned, particularly to spine with some ageing to the rear wrap. Bookseller's label to front pastedown, Bertrand Smith's Acres of Books, Cincinnati. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly aged to edges. Some offsetting to endpapers, otherwise clean throughout. Near Fine
