Clean blue cloth boards with yellow lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean endpapers. 304 pages. Jacket is not price clipped (2.00 on front inside flap), some soiling, closed edge tears, shallow chipping at top spine edge. Photo portrait of author on rear panel. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A rambunctious and humorous novel about an American family, and the struggles of seeing children through adolescence.

Description: First hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by Doubleday Doran, 1941. From the author of 'Alice Adams', the story of the everyday goings on of the Little family. 304 pages, 5-3/4" X 8". The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. Jacket has edge wear at the head-heel of the spine and tips of the corners, a closed tear of about 1" at the bottom edge of the back panel, and a 1" closed tear at the top edge of the back flap. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Blue cloth covered boards with the title on the spine. Cover boards are flat, very minor spots of rubbing wear at the tips of the bottom corners. There is a large gift inscription in pencil on the first flyleaf page. No further writing besides that though. Mustard yellow top-stain, might be just a bit faded. Binding is tight and square. Not a remainder, not a library discard copy. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.

SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR to flyleaf and warmly inscribed to John Booth on behalf of Elizabeth Trotter Jr (Betty Trotter). Slight lean, minor wear to cloth, spine toned. Very good. The American novelist and dramatist Booth Tarkington was a multi-Pulitzer Prize winner. Elizabeth Trotter was the author's literary assistant, researcher, contributor to The Atlantic magazine in the 1920s, and the dedicatee of Tarkington's Wanton Mally (1932).
