A work for children revolving around the fictionalized adventures of Bemelmans' poodle in Africa. Bemelmans is perhaps best known for his children's book, Madeline. POOR/FAIR condition. Backstrip MISSING from the spine. General fading and toning to the covers, with minor soiling and staining. Heavy bumping, scuffing and wear along the extremities. Covers weakly attached to the text block. Minor toning to the text block.

Description: A whimsical find for a collector. A First Edition/First Printing of "Fifi" with the original dust jacket. There is some wear to the board tops and ends along with a very light toning to pages edges and some creases along spine, else fine. Book is bound tight and illustrations are bright still and clean.The pictorial boards are clean and bright with a light scratch across the back pictorial board. Paste down boards are clean and bright with no wrinkling depicting the mischievous dog and cat characters patterned throughout. Dust jacket has some edge wear with chipping across the spine. First edition price of $2.00 present in bottom right corner of dust jacket. There is a vintage bookplate on the archival wrapper, but nothing attached to the dust jacket itself (archival wrapper is removable). No bookplates of any kind on the actual dust jacket or book itself. An overall fantastic copy of the this true first edition that will genuinely please a collector.

Description: Most corners show light wear, one corner scuffed at tip, back spine gutter near bottom has a small divot/tear, slight cock to spine, veyr light edgewear to bottom. otherwise book is quite nice, very clean and bright, with a solid binding and sharp pages. Dust jacket has some small chipping and wear to corners, hint of toning at white parts of jacket, back of jacket is slightly sunfaded at bottom half so it looks like it is two colors, small divot to save area of jacket as the book. jacket otherwise quite clean and bright, now protected in a clear cover. Description: A very good hardcover book in a like dustjacket. The book has bright clean covers. Top right corners of first nine leaves are very slightly bent with a half-inch closed tear to the top right corner of the front free endpaper. The jacket is whole and intact with the original $2.00 price; the jacket shows mild shelf wear and a pair of half-inch closed tears to the front panel; there are no chips. There is a tiny 1/8-inch strip to the top of the rear jacket flap which is darkened. An attractive and presentable copy of this classic Bemelmans book. First (and only) printing of this uncommon Bemelmans title. His second children's book, published a year after the success of MADELINE, and featuring the adventures of Fifi, a French poodle.
