Condition: Good, with light shelfwear to covers. Previous owners name and the date 1965 on front endpaper. Binding sound. 175pp. 20 colour illustrations (many tipped-in) and lots of b/w illustrations. This book was produced with the approval of Fernand Leger (1881-1955), who was very involved in its production, and sadly died in August 1955 just before it was published that October.

Ehrmann (1928-2005) studierte 1946 bis 1949 an der École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris und gründete die Avantgarde-Theatergruppe "Ceux-là". Während dieser Zeit lernte er auch einige Vertreter des Surrealismus kennen. 1950 begann er zu fotografieren. Er porträtierte Chagall, Picasso und andere Künstler und lernte den Schriftsteller, Maler und Bildhauer Anré Verdet (1913-2004) kennen. - A. Verdet war mit vielen bedeutenden Malern (Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Hans Hartung, Fernand Léger, Henri Matisse und Pablo Picasso) befreundet. 1977 traf er Bill Wyman von den Rolling Stones und Jon Anderson, den Lead-Sänger von Yes.
