"Written in Lawrence's most productive period, the two essays Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious (1921) and Fantasia of the Unconscious (1922) propose an alternative to what Lawrence perceived as the Freudian psychoanalytic theory of the unconscious and the incest motive. In doing so they also develop his ideas about the upbringing and education of children, about marriage, and about social and even political action. These writings form an illuminating guide to his philosophy in general, and the thinking behind his other published works." Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

Price: US$460.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: The true first edition, preceding English issue by a year. This edition contains an epilogue by Lawrence that was omitted from the English edition. The gilt on the spine is a bit faded, but certainly readable. The gilt on the front panel of the book is bright. The dustwrapper is about 2 mm. shorter than the book, but that may be a publisher's flaw. Dustwrapper has a nickel sized chip out of the front panel of the d.w. -- but does not affect any text (the price of $2.25 remains). Ref.: Roberts A22. A most handsome copy.
