Description: All volumes complete and secure in their late 19th century contemporary bindings of half dark green leather with marbled boards. Five raised bands at spine (gilt delineation), six compartments comprising two with gilt lettered titles (set and volume) and four compartments with decorative gilt devices. Spines have uniformly faded to a warm brown; some minor scuffing at head of a few volumes. Scattered foxing as typical. Printed at The Riverside Press, Cambridge. Each volume is illustrated with steel engraved portraits and photogravures with tissue guards. A very attractive set.
