Description: Small-format volume, measuring approximately 4.75" x 6.5", is bound in blind-stamped flexible red cloth covers, with bright stamped gilt lettering to spine and front cover. Book shows moderate external wear, with soiling to covers, including faint moisture marking at top of rear cover. Binding is firm. Text block has marbled edges. Scribner's price list for Baedekers pasted appears as front pastedown. Front edge is beginning to crack. Pages are largely clean and bright, with a very small number of pages showing light foxing at edges. This work is lavishly illustrated with numerous textual illustrations, full- and double-page area maps, as well as well-preserved, fold-out (color) maps. The frontispiece map of the Nile delta has a small tear, with very minor loss, at bottom edge. "The present fourth edition of the "Handbook to Egypt" comprises in its scope the regions previously treated of in separate volumes, devoted to Lower Egypt and Upper Egypt respectively." cciv/395 pages.
